ISLAND LIVING

Things to Do Near Waikiki Beach

For centuries, all points in the Pacific led to Hawaii. It’s a mishmash of cultures, history, and tales blown in with the trade winds. It’s lush trails leading up to panoramic volcano views, riding turquoise waves, and strolling through markets piled high with tropical fruit. It’s luaus and the scent of pikake leis lingering in the air. It’s the sound of Hawaiian music echoing from the Waikiki Shell like the city’s soundtrack, the chatter of a thousand visitors and locals alike filling the warm island air. And that’s precisely what makes it so beautiful.

Whether your vacation dreams include lazing by the pool with a mai tai in hand, or you spend your days chasing the ultimate wave, White Sands invites you to experience the best of life on Oahu.

Manoa Falls Trail

It’s a .4 mile walk to the trailhead. Otherwise, continue driving along Manoa Road and follow the signs for $5 parking on the right hand side. After parking, continue following the road toward the mountain. At a fork, veer right toward a fence with signs marking the Manoa Falls trailhead.

Whale Watching

From December to May, you may catch a glimpse of a majestic kohola, or humpback whale on Oahu’s southern seas. Visitors can opt for a boat tour or take a scenic drive along the east coast to Makapuu Lookout. We recommend hiking to the top of the Makapuu Lighthouse trails, offering expansive views the ocean and a prime chance on sighting these amazing creatures.
